A part of me always gets a bit down for a couple when it rains on either their engagement shoot or wedding day. Another part of me gets really excited with the potential it provides for a photographer. Freezing water drops mid-air makes for a really magical photograph. That and a rainbow!
Julia's smile is so contagious and I think her joy is so visible. Barny and Julia are incredibly comfortable with each other you can’t help but smile watching them joke around.
Simon & Julian
I had the pleasure of photographing this extremely intimate reception. It was held at the gorgeous Dysart Arms, tucked away in the idealic location of Petersham, Richmond.
Julian and Simon contacted me just two weeks before their wedding! We met at the local Starbucks to talk about what they had in mind. I'm pleased to say that this was my first civil partnership.
Julian and Simon have been together since the '80s and finally decided to hold their Big Event. The more we talked the more I realised how in love Julian and Simon were with one another. Even after so long, they're just lovely together!
I felt so honoured to be a part of their day and wish them many years of happiness!
Natalie & Ian | Wedding
BON CAP WINDERY, SOUTH AFRICA
Arriving at the venue in the early afternoon of Friday, we were greeted with rows and rows of vineyards surrounded by the gorgeous mountains of Robertson. It felt a bit like a road trip getting there. That may have had something to do with the fact that I was partially on vacation since Christopher and I visit South Africa every year to see our family.
We've known Ian and Natalie for quite some time and we were so excited when they asked me to photograph their wedding. I did their engagement photos a little while ago and they were so amazing to photograph – a couple truly comfortable with one another.
Jakub & Favourite
REGENT'S PARK, LONDON
I used to work with Jakub at an agency in the city. I hadn't seen him in ages but stayed in touch on Facebook. I continually saw updates and photos in my news feed about what the two of them were getting up to. More and more I just wanted to photograph them as I knew they would just be so natural.
We met up in Regent’s Park and it was busier than usual. It seemed the salsa group dancing in the park may have been the cause. As it turns out Jakub and Favourite a big dancers and they improvised a few moves for me!
I had such a great time and I think it shows in the photos how relaxed they are together. Their love for one another is beautiful and if you ever met them you’ll know what I’m talking about.
Natalie & Ian | Engagement
MORDEN HALL PARK, LONDON
I've known Ian and Natalie for a few years now. We met while I was still living in Cape Town. When they got engaged, I knew that their wedding would still be a more than a year away, so to keep them excited I offered them an engagement shoot.
I have to say that these two are just cutest couple. They were so comfortable not only in front of the camera but with each other. They have a great relationship and are the most likeable people I know.
I've been following Nat's Pinterest board for her wedding and kept thinking how great it would be to shoot their wedding. I'm happy and super excited to announce that I'll be shooting their wedding in South Africa! I'm not sure I can contain myself!
Barny & Julia | Wedding
I met Barny and Julia one morning at their gorgeous restaurant in Petersham, The Dysart Arms. Barny and Julia are an incredibly relaxed couple and Julia’s smile and laughter is so contagious.
The reception was held at the Dysart and their ceremony was held two doors down from their venue - the beautiful St. Peter’s church. Their vicar, Tim, was so very helpful in advising suitable locations to photograph the ceremony. This was particularly help as there was limited space to shoot.
I definitely recommend visiting this lovely restaurant – the food is amazing.
